Phase 1. Download & Install Unofficial GA Client
- Download the client from this GitHub page, it is available for Windows, Linux, and Mac operating systems. For Windows 10 download the file with the .exe extension.
- Once downloaded, install it.
- Once it’s done, uncheck the box next to Run Google Assistant and click Finish.
Phase 2. Open Actions Console & Create a New Project
- Open up the Actions Console and click on New project.
- Now, type any project name and click on create a project. Other settings like language and country or region are optional it doesn’t affect anything.
- On the screen scroll down to the bottom of the page where you’ll find a “are you looking for device registration” click here. You will need to click on the button to proceed.
- Here, click on the “REGISTER MODEL” button.
- Fill up any name and company and Device type. Then, finally, click on “REGISTER MODEL”.
- Now, after you have created a model, you will be asked to download the credentials. Click on “Download OAuth 2.0 credentials”

Phase 3. Configure Consent Screen
- Click on the link to get to the Cloud Console page.
- From the menu bar area, search and select the project you’ve just created.
- Now, from the left hamburger menu, select “APIs & Services.”
- Click on “ENABLE APIS AND SERVICES.”
- A new page will open “API Library” where you can search for APIs and enable them. Search for “Google Assistant” and click on “Google Assistant API.”

- Now, from the hamburger menu, click the “Credentials” screen.

- Select External under the User Type option. Then, click CREATE.
- Select your email for “User Support email.”
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page and enter email in “Developer Contact Information”, right after that click on SAVE AND CONTINUE.
- Once again, click CREATE and also on the next page.
- Click on BACK TO DASHBOARD.
- Under “Test Users” click on the “ADD USERS” button.
- Enter your email ID and click SAVE.
Phase 4. Setting Authentication in the App
- Launch the Google Assistant Unofficial Desktop Client app. Press Win + Shift + A. Click Get Started and Proceed.
- Click on the “Settings” button in the top-left corner of the app.
- Now, click Browse next to Key File Path.
- Select the file and click Open.
- Click Save and then select Automatically set a path.
- Click Relaunch Assistant.
- Now, you will be presented with the “Get Token!” screen. An authentication page will be opened in your default browser.
- Select your Email ID. Click Continue. Click on Allow twice.
- Finally, copy the code.
- Go back to the Assistant and paste the code and then click Submit.
- Click Relaunch Assistant.
