We’re committed to provide a harassment-free experience for everyone regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, neurotype or religion. We do not tolerate harassment of members in any form including but not limited to sustained disruptive behaviour, unwelcome sexual attention, and demeaning jokes or language. This applies to both our events and our online space.
Try and bear in mind that oftentimes harassing behavior isn’t recognized as such unless you’re the one who’s been putting up with it day after day. What you might think is a harmless joke may be the same “joke” someone’s been faced with all their lives. Make an effort to be welcoming to everyone. It’s up to you to put those around you at ease.
Also, try to bear in mind that evil wins when good people do nothing. If you are witness to any sort of harassment or bullying in the Guild, bring it to the attention of the GM or the EnGarde Club Board. Remember that not all harassed people are comfortable with defending or speaking up for themselves.
The EnGarde Club Board’s goodwill and attempts to provide a safe environment would be limited without your contribution and feedback. Confidential complaints, criticisms, or requests can be sent anonymously at [email protected] or to any one of our organizers either on MS Teams (@neocristal, @Christine, @jestr, @Linus, @mark) or face to face. Bear in mind that neither the Club Board nor the GMs are exempt from any of the rules —quite the opposite— so be assured that any attention brought to our own faults, wrongdoings or mistreatment of others is appreciated and acted upon.
The EnGarde Club Board reserves the right to bar attendance or ban from the group any member they find in violation of the letter or the spirit of the club rules with no prior warning. More specifically, if you find yourselves asking quite often where exactly in the rules it says that a certain behaviour is offensive or antisocial, take a moment to consider that human interactions do not have a Player’s Handbook and possibly this behaviour is problematic.
EnGarde GMs are the ones putting in the extra hours to make sure you can have an entertaining experience and no-one wants to have to do it as a chore. The EnGarde GM should provide information on what they expect from players at their table and players should do their utmost to respect their wishes. EnGarde GMs have ultimate authority on whom they want at their table.
Although not mandatory, we strongly recommend the use of a system like the X-Card, Lines and Veils or similar, especially if your game is dealing with sensitive topics. If you’re not aware of the above techniques, we’re more than happy to go through them with you.
